We all have rice, we all have it but can never be bothered cooking it, it takes so long to cook.. But rice creates some tasty meals and goes with almost anything you throw at it, its filling, and is good for you.

So how can we fix this problem? Especially for the busy person who has more on their plate than just cooked rice? (pun intended).

Well, after a quick browse around the internet, a lot of people came up with the idea of pressure cooking your rice, though a great idea, and my rice would be ready for me when I get home from work, I don’t own one of these or have any intention on doing so for the time being. So this doesn’t help me right now, and I’m stuck in the same predicament.

So I turn over the rice packet to look at the instructions and thought to myself “instead of steaming the rice, why not just boil it?”

So, without wasting any more of my rice eating time I got to work. Steaming your rice usually takes around 45 minutes, this method managed to shave off a whole 20 minutes off my rice cooking time! All you need to do is bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil and add the rice, leave it to cook for 20 – 25 minutes (stirring occasionally) and you have your cooked rice.

Now the rice is a little wetter than steamed rice, but still tastes great and goes with any sauce based foods like saucy meats or currys.
